Comic book movies

Spider Man

one of our options for our next film is fictional comic books and I can get some inspiration and some ideas from marvels film the spider man.
codes and conventions
most superhero movies all have the same common codes and conventions and normally feature things like some having some sort of accident which leads to them gaining their powers or them learning how to use their powers. its also features a evil villain who they will be fighting against and also a women who needs to be saved by the superhero and the superhero also normally needs to kill or stop the villain.

Mise En scene
The opening credits of the spider man is full of spider webs and quite dark colours. The main colours in it are dark blues and reds this is to show the colour of  spider mans costume and so foreshadows things to come. later in the opening credits you get a quick glance of the spider man suit from behind and reveals the colours of his suit and also you can tell that because his suit is bright and colourful that he is going to obviously be the hero of the movie. You also get a look at the bad guy and can tell that he is the bad guy because of the colour of his mask and also because of the look on the mask which looks evil and quite scary. the webs are also used throughout the clip showing that they are very significant and a big part of the movie. You also see buildings in parts of the clip in the background showing that it is set in a large city area where the movie is set. it has also got lots of low key lighting to make it seem mysterious which can show spider man because no one knows who is is.
Sound
the main sound in the clip is quite digetic to the opening because the opening is very fast and full of movement and the sound portrays that well. it also is digetic to spider man the movie as it is full of action pretty much all the way through and the sound in this clip shows this.
Camera Angles
The opening is full of fast moving camera angels and very quick takes and seem to follow the web around through rolling and tracking shots. This can show how spider man is as he is always moving fast and never stays in one spot for to long. There are also close ups of the opening credits throughout and they are made to look like flies being stuck in a spiders web.
Editing
Most of this clip is made up of editing and opens with the usual comic strip of marvel as do all over marvel movies. the spider webs are also used in the editing along with the credits that are flying toward the spider webs and getting stuck in them as you watch the opening this also goes along with quick cuts so that you are reminded of the action of the film though out the first opening credits.
Creativity
The spider man opening is very creative because it opens differently to many other marvel movies because it has much darker colours unlike most marvel films. However it still has the marvel comic strip editing at the start. the way they used the webs and the credits editing technique is also very creative and relates well to the film.

preliminary task

Our new preliminary task is to do a short video clip which include certain techniques.
these techniques are a range of camera angles and narratives that need to be included such as walking through a door.
so far we have started to do a storyboard and will later be filming.

Story Board

We have done the storyboard on sticky notes so that we are able to change them if we decide to and can move them around and tick off the scenes we have finished and write down any changes that we have decided to make. you can see from the second photo of our story board that we have started to make progress and have taken away the scenes we have done so that we don't get confused and will soon be finished with our film. Our story board has got lots of our ideas on and we have started to think about how we willedit the scenes. we think the first scene will have a CCTV look to it so it looks official and we will also have a slow motion scene where Liam will be hit by the crisps.

Location

These are the locations we have chosen. The setting is in our cafe at school and so we have chosen these locations because it looks good and natural and also has all the qualities needed in our film. It has doors for Liam to be throw through and also has areas we can use to get interesting camera angles and we will be able to climb on tables to get the high angle shot to look like CCTV. There is also an area where we can have the scene where I will be running away from Lauren and this scene will be filmed through a tracking shot and it will end with a close up on me showing the fear on my face. The lighting of the scene is also very good because it has good natural lighting and it isn't to bright for the camera so you still get a good quality video.
Editing
in editing I have started by just cutting the clips and am thinking of what editing techniques to use. we have decided to do a slow motion scene and a black and white CCTV camera scene at the start and that looks really good. we have also chosen to add the Benny hill theme tune as our sound for the scene where I have started to run away and it makes it look more comical.
finished preliminary task

This is our finished clip and it looks good and has been edited well. In the clip I play the wimp that runs away from the bully and I also film the over shoulder shot scenes and all the scenes with the crisps in.
