romantic comedy

one of our option for out film in romantic comedy and 50 first dates can give me inspiration and also some ideas.

opening scene
the opening scene of 50 first dates begins with a tropical island most likely Hawaii which can be associated with a typical honeymoon location and is exaggerating the stereotype. and then fades into a pineapple being on a women's kitchen counter. This scene then turns into lots of quick cuts and takes of women gossipping about a man they have meant and the date and the sex. This is stereotypical of women as they are known for gossipping and constantly talking on the phones.

Codes and Conventions of romantic comedies
Most ROM-Com's normal feature a relationship and the relationship braking down or the basic life of the relationship. It also shows a more comical side to relationships and normal features funny things happening in the relationship and their lives.

Juno

Opening scene
the opening scene starts with Juno walking and a tracking shot is following her down the street which then goes into her walking in a comic book looking scene which goes into the opening credits of the movie. from the opening of Juno you cant tell if it fit the codes and conventions of a Rom-com but it doesn't open in a way that looks like a typical Rom-com because of this you expect it to be a more comical than romantic Rom-com. the editing also makes you think this and so does the fact that she is drinking a big bottle of sunny d makes you think its going to be more of a comedy than a romance.
