Science Fiction

Codes and Conventions of
Science fiction
Science fiction films normal are featured in space or in the future and feature similar details such as the props in the films. They all have futuristic weapons or gadgets and often feature lasers and other types of editing used to make it look more futuristic. Most of the characters in science fiction movies are also similar in most  sci-fi films and they all normally feature robots and aliens. These characters are also normally the bad characters in the films and are normally the enemy of the humans who are trying to fight them and protect earth.
 The Matrix

The matrix feature some of these codes and conventions as it is set in the future and features a range of gadgets and the enemy are the robots. in this opening scene you can see that it is in the future through the editing with the numbers on the screen which looks very hi- tech and advanced technology telling us that the matrix is going to be set in the future. The music also sounds very hi-tech and so again shows the setting is going to be in future. you also see from the camera angles that the numbers are in the computer and when the close up goes onto the computer you feel like you are going into the matrix and into the computer. because of all the technology used in the opening scene you know that its going to play a big part in the whole movie and so it is going to be quite a stereotypical science fiction.
